about
Chris Anderson
I’m a mechanical engineer who became a leader.
By day, I lead dozens of people. I lead the people and the programs; I don’t build the products myself — and neither do they. Each of them runs a slice of the work, and together they coordinate more than two hundred meykrs across our initiatives — mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers, backend and mobile, the factories, supply chain, legal, and finance — and millions of dollars of investment every year.
In the language of this site, that’s a team of teams — a tribe’s worth of collaboration, near its full size, though not yet a tribe of tribes. It’s the connective tissue that keeps a portfolio of connected products moving for some very large brands: my team reports up to executives and keeps the whole organization optimized to meyk at scale.
The path here ran through mechanical engineering, an MBA at Fordham, a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and years spent learning how work actually flows through an organization — and where it snags.
Then the ground shifted. AI can build almost anything in a weekend now; the scarce things are attention, taste, and honest feedback. So on nights and weekends I meyk my own products — for the fun of it, with my family and friends.
My favorite collaborator lately is my daughter. We shipped 2picsto1.com together — she’s the founder.
I’m strong at the outer rings: vision, alignment, getting large groups pointed the same way. This site is me rebuilding the center, in the open.
